If you add web tracking analytics to an agency website, you must statutorily create a pop-up notice (modal) on the website informing visitors that it is collecting their data. The modal must link to a page on the site stating how and why we collect the data. SITSD has created a template for you for both the modal and the approved language for the legal notice page. Using Google Analytics

Google Analytics LogoThe State of Montana is moving to Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Google Analytics is a web analytics service that provides statistics and basic analytical tools for search engine optimization (SEO) and marketing purposes. The service is part of the Google Marketing Platform and is available for free to anyone with a Google account.

Installating Google Analytics on a Cascade website

Below is the code and documentation to add Google Analytics 4 (GA) to your Cascade site, an end-user Cookie Consent Notice page, and a Cookie Acceptance Modal. You are required to add the modal and end-user notice page when installing GA.

Installing Google Analytics on an off-state-network site

Off-state-network websites that utilitze Google Analytics are still subject to the same statues as on-prem websites. Please create a pop-up notice to inform your users that your website is collecting analytics and a notice page prior to installing GA4 on your website.
